The Golden City Prague is the precious “Pearl of Europe”. The beautiful city of Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. The former capital of Czechoslovakia, Prague is the largest city of the Czech Republic situated in the western part of the country, on both banks of the Vltava River in central Bohemia.

Prague is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The majestic city of Prague has earned a number of beautiful nicknames such as the“city of a hundred spires,” “the Left Bank of the Nineties,” the “mother of cities,” and “the heart of Europe.”

Prague is home to numerous world class museums and art galleries. The city offers one of the finest museums and galleries in the Europe. Some of the museums and galleries of Prague are listed below.

National Museum: Founded by Kašpar Maria Šternberk in Prague in 1818, the National Museum is expo of Prehistory of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, collections of rocks and minerals, paleontology, zoology, anthropology. The museum shelters almost 14 million of items from the area of natural history, history, arts, music and librarianship.

Naprstek Museum: Founded by Vojta Náprstek (1826-1894), the Naprstek Museum is part of the Prague National Museum. It’s the museum of Asian, African and American art in the city of Prague.

Lobkowitz Palace (Lobkovický palác): The museum offers the largest exposition on the history of the Czech lands (4th century BC – mid-19th century).

Lapidarium (Lapidárium): The museum exhibits Czech stone sculptures of the 11th – 19th century. The priceless original sculptures are collected from their former locations throughout Prague, including original statues from the Charles Bridge.

Antonín Dvo?ák Museum (Muzeum Antonína Dvo?áka): The museum features the life and work of composer Antonín Dvo?ák.

Bed?ich Smetana Museum (Muzeum Bed?icha Smetany): The museum features life and work of composer Bed?ich Smetana.

Museum of Decorative Arts (Um?leckopr?myslové muzeum): The museum offers the exhibition of textiles, fashion, applied graphic, photography, glass, ceramics, metal, etc.

The City of Prague Museum (Muzeum hlavního m?sta Prahy): The museum features the history of Prague from prehistoric times to present.

Sternberg Palace (Šternberský Palác): The gallery exhibits the European art from ancient times to the end of Baroque, with emphasis on the 14th-18th centuries.

St. George’s Convent (Klášter sv. Ji?í): The gallery features Czech Baroque painting of the 17th and 18th century, including Mannerism artists of the court of Rudolf II.
